WCSA bulk cargo rates for northern Europe show drops Handysize and Supramax ships were US $ 7,000 and US $ 9,000 respectively
The charter rates for bulk vessels for the West Coast of South America (Callao) – Far East route (Fig. A) reported during week 41 of 2020 were US $ 15,000 for Handysize vessels, representing 140% of the rate reference of the Baltic Dry index (BHSI) for the segment and maintaining the value compared to week 40. For Supramax vessels the rate reached US $ 19,000, equivalent to 176% of the BSI and presenting an increase of US $ 1,000 compared to the week 49. Meanwhile, the rates for Ultramax vessels totaled US $ 20,000, positioning 185% with respect to the BSI benchmark index, repeating the value of the previous week.
On the West Coast of South America (Callao) – North Europe route (Fig. B), the charter rates for Handysize vessels were US $ 7,000, equivalent to 65% of the BHSI reference rate, decreasing the value of the week 40 at US500. Supramax vessels reached rates of US $ 9,000, equivalent to 83% of the BSI benchmark segment, with a decrease of US $ 1,500 compared to the previous week.
Regarding the spot rates of concentrates (copper, zinc, lead) for the shipment of 11,000 metric tons to the Far East (Fig. C), the estimate in Chile is around US $ 40 (low mid) and from Peru it is from US $ 30 (mid high). In addition, the minimum estimate for the spot rate for the shipment of 22,000 metric tons in Chile is US $ 40 (low) and US $ 30 (mid) from Peru. The estimate for the shipment of 22,000 metric tons from Chile to two ports (Far East) with a previous call is around US $ 40 (low mid) and with a call from Peru to two ports of US $ 30 (mid high).
